Mango Oatmeal Spiced Smoothie

This is one of my favorite morning smoothies. Filled with protein, carbs,  healthy fats and all the nutrients I need to get through my morning. It’s a great pre or post-workout breakfast as well! Spiced with cinnamon and a touch of cardomom for a little kick of flavor. I hope you give it a try and enjoy!

Health Benefits

Rolled oats– A great source of carbs and protein, B-complex vitamins, and minerals calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium. Oats are also good for digestion and can act as a mild laxative.

Lecithin– A great source of Choline, which helps stop fatty deposits from accumulating in the liver, is needed for transmitting nreve impulses, good for the gallbladder, hair, kidneys, and thymus gland. It may also reduce blood pressure and baldness. Lecithin is also a good source of Inositol,  which is imortant for hair growth and brain function.

Hemp Protein Powder– A vegetarian source of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fibre, chlorophyll and a complete, balanced gluten-free source of the essential amino acids.

Glutamine pwd– An essential amino acid which aids in helping with recovery time post-workout. It can also help with sugar cravings and increases the human growth hormone by 400%.

Maca– This root is rich in B-vitamins and has high levels of bioavailable calcium and magnesium causing it to be a great energy builder.  Maca root has also been shown to be beneficial for all sorts of hormonal problems including PMS, menopause, and hot flashes.

Mango– Extremely high in vitamin A and has vit. C, magnesium, calcium, and potassium.

Spinach– High in vitamin A and vit.C, calcium, and iron.

Cinnamon– Can regulate blood sugar, reduces LDL cholesterol levels, effective against ulcer causing H. pylori bacteria, reduces pain linked to arthritis, effective for mentrual pain.

Recipe

1/4 cup organic rolled oats

2TBS. Hemp protein pwd.(or protein pwd of choice)

2TBS. Lecithin granules (option)

1 tsp. Maca powder

1/2 tsp. L-Glutamine pwd

1-1/2 tsp. cinnamon pwder

1/4 tsp. cardamon

11/2 cups almond milk

1 frozen banana

1 cup frozen Mango cubes

3-4 frozen strawberries

1 cup fresh spinach leaves

In your blender (I use a blendtec and fully recommend purchasing a high powered blender if you want to get serious about your smoothies and health) combine all dry ingredients pulse until mixed and oats are almost a powder.

Add your almond milk and pulse a few times to combine. Then add remaining ingredients and puree until smooth.

Pour into a glass or travel container and DRINK TO YOUR HEALTH (also give yourself a nice pat on the back for taking the time to take care of your body)!
