I call this Smoothie Post Yoga Bliss, only because that is when I like to enjoy this bad boy. Honestly you can bliss out on its chocolatey, protein rich, nutrien-ness anytime! This smoothie is a great little chocolate fix or afternoon pick me up. Loaded with antioxidants, energy builders, protein and lots of vitamins. Added bonus, just incase you didn’t pick up on it earlier, IT IS DE-Li-CIOUS.
Here’s the skinny:
Raw Cacao Powder and Nibs – This Mayan superfood is the “bliss” factor. Loaded with essential minerals, B vitamins, essential heart healthy fats, protein, and fiber. There are many components of cacao including alkaloids, proteins, beta-carotene, leucine, linoleic, lipase, lysine, and theobromine, that all work together to improve physical and mental health. For example, theombromine helps to stimulate the central nervous system, relax smooth muscles, and dilate blood vessels, giving the body a boost of energy; “bliss” chemicals found in cacao help to increase circulation and availability of serotonin and other neurotransmitters in brain, improving mood and combating depression. SWEET!
Lecithin– A great source of Choline, which helps stop fatty deposits from accumulating in the liver, is needed for transmitting nerve impulses, good for the gallbladder, hair, kidneys, and thymus gland. It may also reduce blood pressure and baldness. Lecithin is also a good source of Inositol, which is important for hair growth and brain function.
Hemp Protein Powder and Seeds– A vegetarian source of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fibre, chlorophyll and a complete, balanced gluten-free source of the essential amino acids.
.Glutamine pwd– An essential amino acid which aids in helping with recovery time post-workout. It can also help with sugar cravings and increases the human growth hormone by 400%.
Maca– This root is rich in B-vitamins and has high levels of bioavailable calcium and magnesium causing it to be a great energy builder. Maca root has also been shown to be beneficial for all sorts of hormonal problems including PMS, menopause, and hot flashes.
Cherries – High in Vitamins A & C, as well as phosphorus, potassium, and calcium. Cherries are loaded with a type of antioxidants known as anthocyanins, which can actually stop cancer in its tracks. Cherries are an important part of an anti-inflammatory diet, making them great allies in the fight against issues like arthritis and even heart disease. So not only are these little beauties delicious but so so good for us (bonus).
Spinach– High in vitamin A and vit.C, calcium, and iron.
Cinnamon– Can regulate blood sugar, reduces LDL cholesterol levels, effective against ulcer causing H. pylori bacteria, reduces pain linked to arthritis, effective for menstrual pain.
